Independence Day is right around the corner which means summer is officially in full swing! Nothing beats hanging out in the sunshine with friends and family, food and drinks; so why not create the perfect patio for hosting summer barbecues?  Here are some items to help dress up your patio to become the spot to be this summer!

It’s All About the Food

This may be the most essential piece to anyone’s patio: a good grill! A summer barbeque wouldn’t be the same without a fired up grill full of meat and veggies.Your whole neighborhood might be jealous of the smoky BBQ aromas drifting into their yards.

Comfy Furniture

In order to take full advantage of relaxing out in the sun, you need furniture that is comfortable for yourself and friends when they come to hang out. Make sure that the furniture is weatherproof too; it will save you a lot of time and energy when those summer thunderstorms roll through!

Pump Up the Jams

Music is a great addition to any summer barbeque! If you don’t have a portable sound system, purchasing an outdoor one could be a purchase you won’t regret. There are many different options available to fit your price range too!

Create Shady Spots

Be sure to create some shady spots for when the summer sun gets to be a little too much. You can do this by using a table with a sun umbrella, or by investing in a retractable awning. You could always opt for a pergola or arbor covered in vines for a more natural look as well!

Citronella Candles

Come nighttime it can be difficult to keep those pesky mosquitos away from you and your guests. No longer are the summer nights covered in sticky bug spray! Citronella candles are a great alternative, and the candles smell better too!

Add Some Flare

A fire pit is a great way to gather people in one area, and it always seems to be where the best stories are told. In some locations, summer nights can get chilly. If you don’t have a fire pit, heating lamps are another great option to warm up the outdoor space and allow you to spend more quality time outside. Tiki torches are another good way to help light up your patio, and some versions help ward off bugs too!

Add a Little Luxury

Adding a hot tub is great for long soaks at the end of the day and a great luxury item to have for small get-togethers with friends. Planning where to put a hot tub takes a few different considerations such as whether you want it in the sun or the shade, and how far from the house you want it located. It is also important to remember that hot tubs need a separate foundation from a deck since it can weigh about 2 tons once filled with water.
